Gifts can be the most awkward line of an invitation to write. LumiWed gives you one calm place for it: a gift list guests reserve from, so nobody brings the same thing twice, and clear details for guests who would rather give money. The gift list, bank details and links are free on every plan.
Open your Gifts page
Open Gifts in the menu, just under Inbox. The page has three groups, each with its own Add button:
-
Gift list: things guests can reserve.
-
Money: bank details and payment links, and, with Premium, funds guests give to by card.
-
Other registries: lists you keep on other sites, such as an Amazon wishlist.
As soon as you add your first entry, a Gifts section appears on your website.
Add a gift
-
Under Gift list, choose Add a gift.
-
Fill in What is it? and, if you like, A note for guests: the color, the size, or why you'd love it.
-
Paste a Link to the product so guests know where to buy it. This is optional.
-
Add a Photo (JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF), a Price with its Currency, and How many would you like? Say 8 for eight wine glasses; guests can reserve one or more.
-
Choose Add.
Short on time? After pasting a product link, choose Fill in from this link. LumiWed reads the shop's page and fills in the title, photo, and price where the shop allows it. It only fills fields you left empty, so check the details before you save. Some shops block this, Amazon among them. Then add the details yourself; the link still works for guests.
Use the arrows on each entry to change its order. Deleting a gift takes it off your site straight away, along with any reservations for it.
Gift titles and notes are translated into your other site languages along with the rest of your site. Links, prices, and bank details are never translated.
Add bank details
-
Under Money, choose Add a bank account.
-
Give it a Label, for example Honeymoon fund, and if you like a note about what the money is for.
-
Choose your Bank country / format: IBAN (Europe and many other countries), UK, US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Mexico (CLABE), Brazil (Pix), or Other.
-
Type the Account holder exactly as your bank has it. Banks in the euro area check the name before the money moves.
-
Fill in the account details. BIC / SWIFT, the bank name, the currency, and a Payment reference guests type in the transfer's description are optional.
-
Choose Add.
For an IBAN that can take euro transfers, LumiWed also shows guests a Scan to pay code. Guests in the euro area can scan it with their banking app to fill in the transfer; the amount stays theirs to type. The code appears for a euro-area IBAN, and for another SEPA IBAN once you set its currency to EUR. On your site, each bank detail has its own copy button, so guests can paste it straight into their banking app.
Add payment and registry links
-
Payment link: under Money, choose Add a payment link and paste your PayPal.me, Revolut, Tikkie, or other payment link. LumiWed recognises common services and names them for you.
-
Registry link: under Other registries, choose Add a registry link and paste the link to a wishlist or registry you keep elsewhere.
What your guests see
Your Gifts section shows your gift list first. Below it, Prefer to give money? shows your funds, bank details, and payment links, and Also on… shows your other registries.
-
Each gift shows its photo, its price, a View in shop link, and how many are still wished for.
-
A guest taps Reserve, chooses how many if you'd like more than one, and can add a message to you. The gift is then crossed off as Reserved for everyone else.
-
Their own reservation reads You're giving this, with Change and Undo.
-
Guests reserve with their personal invitation link. Visitors without it are asked to open their link first.
Bank details and payment links are shown only to guests who opened their personal link, unless you choose otherwise.
Choose what you see, and who sees what
Open Settings and go to Gifts.
Under Reservations, choose how much you see. Guests always see what's taken, so nobody doubles up.
-
Keep it a surprise (the default): you won't see what guests reserve.
-
Show which gifts are taken: you see what's reserved, not by whom.
-
Show who gives what: you see each guest's name, with their message to you.
Under Bank details, you can choose to show your bank details and payment links to visitors without their personal invitation link. Guests who open their link always see them.
Under Reserving and giving without a link, you can let visitors without a personal link reserve gifts, or give to a fund, by typing their name. Guests with their link can always reserve and give.
Place the Gifts section on your site
The Gifts section moves like any other section. In Design, on the Sections tab, drag it where you want it, or remove it from your page. If you arranged your sections before gifts existed, you'll find Gifts under Available to add.
Good to know
-
Surprise mode keeps your dashboard and your in-app preview quiet: they show every gift as available. Your live website shows what is crossed off, because guests need to see it, so avoid browsing your own gift list there if you want to be surprised.
-
On a private site with a site password, someone who opened the site with the password counts as a visitor without a personal link.
-
LumiWed doesn't sell gifts or run a shop. Guests buy from the shops you link to, or send money your way.
